The Cisco Innovation Grand Challenge is being organized for a third time to foster start-ups that want to change the world. It invites innovators, entrepreneurs, developers and researchers to submit disruptive digital ideas to transform industries and governments for a safer, more sustainable and connected world. The challenge is divided into categories: transportation, manufacturing, infrastructure, smart cities, retail, cybersecurity, education and health. The three winners will receive $25,000, $75,000 and $150,000 respectively to launch their projects. They will also receive mentoring, have access to the network of Cisco Innovation Centers and win a trip to Web Summit, a conference focusing on internet technologies, in Lisbon to pitch their ideas.

The deadline for submitting projects is 31 August. The semi-finalists will receive an invitation to pitch at the Internet of Things World Forum (IOTWF) in Berlin from 18 to 20 October. The six finalists will be able to take part in Web Summit from 7 to 10 November, where the judges will select the winners.
