Picto Connection is an application based on the use of pictograms aimed at children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in order to promote direct communication with other people outside of their habitual context. Successful communication is facilitated, not only through the application's functionality, but also as a result of its simplicity and the fact that it is adapted to the needs of this group. The system has been designed to meet the functional diversity of these individuals at a cognitive, visual and auditory level from childhood through to adulthood.

One of the most important features of the application is that it is designed so that it can be used directly by individuals with ASD themselves without the need for external support (parents, teachers, tutors...). Moreover, the simplicity and practicality of the application does away with any need for prior familiarity with pictograms.

One of the project leaders is Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications student, Meritxell Molina.
